The default settings on the newest VPC from Microsoft has an empty CRM address book. However the solution for this as you write in your post does not work in the VPC. It throws an error. It appears this is only a problem in the VPC as this works in a production environment just fine.

The advice was helpful to get CRM contacts into the address book. Fortunately, we're in a development environment, and only have about 12 email addresses populated in CRM. When we go live we will have several tens of thousands of email addresses, at least. Our wish it to show CRM contacts in the address book only for those persons that we have synced according to the local data settings. But this setting in CRM, Options, Address Book does not seem to bring any CRM contacts into the address book. Any other ideas or experience to help us?

It works if you put your crm urls (both internal and IFD-url) in the Trusted Sites in IE.
