CRM prompting to save or download blank.aspx

We've recently had a rash of users that are unable to navigate in CRM (web client or outlook client) without being prompted to download and or save blank.aspx as seen below:

It appear a recent Windows update can cause Internet Explorer (both 6 and 7) to lose the association to aspx files. The fix for this is to re-create the association. To do this follow these steps:

  1. Save the file as prompted to your desktop (location isn't important – just make sure you can get to the file after saving)
  2. Navigate to the file and right-click it and select Open
  3. You should be prompted for what program to use – select Internet Explorer and check the 'always use this' box

This problem can also sometimes be resolved by adding about:blank to your Trusted Sites in Internet Explorer security.
